I'm Julia Skinner, a retired head teacher in Bristol. Although I retired from headship, it soon became clear that I was not anywhere near ready to retire from education. I am passionate about school governance and through my work with a variety of schools, I have been able to coach new chairs as well as provide support to HTs in their relationship with governors. Much of my time is also taken up with my free online writing project 100 Word Challenge (100wc.net). This has given me the chance to visit schools often supporting middle leaders who are trying to push literacy or IT, often battling against quite severe odds at times.
This work has shown me that I do have a talent to support those in leadership positions and so I signed up to become a Women Leading in Education coach. To date I have successfully coached one individual over a 6 month period. I'm hoping that as the new year gathers pace, I may be able to help other women reach their potential.
